Formation of the Association in Austria

The association was founded in October 2009 through the initiative of Father Dr. Pastor Mpora and members from Ottnang, Leonding, and Altheim. Since October 2022, it has been registered as a non-profit making association officially recognized as eligible to receive donations. The Board works on a voluntary basis.

Purpose
of the Association

The founder and director of the vocational school is a priest from the region where the school is located. Today, he is former Vice Rector of the Katigondo Major Seminary and a lecturer in philosophy at the seminary in Masaka, Uganda. During his studies in Rome, he developed the idea of establishing a school that would allow learners to complete both rural secondary and vocational training up to craft level.

The Association's goal is to support the vocational school through both material and non-material means in order to give young people and their families a positive life perspective by helping them to help themselves.

Founder of the School

The founder and director of the integrated vocational school & institute is Father Dr. Pastor Mpora. He hails from the region where the school is located.He is a philosophy lecturer at St. Thomas National Major Seminary in Masaka, Uganda. During his studies in Rome, he developed the plan to establish a school that offers both secondary and vocational training to give opportunity to the rural youths and others to attain the best certificate for entrance in the world of work or for further technical education.

The Associations

St.Konrad integrated Vocational School & Institute is supported by two Associations. St.Konrad Vocational School – Bebaase Uganda in Austria and
St.Konrad Berufsschule ev. in Munich, Germany. 

St. Konrad School

St.Konrad Integrated Vocational School and Institute with approximately 320 learners offers four years of Secondary School Education integrated with Vocational Training in Tailoring and Fashion Design, Plumbing, Building and Construction, Electricity Installation, Agriculture, Metal Work Fabrication, and Carpentry and Joinery. The learners after four years receive both Certificates:Uganda certificate of education and uganda junior technical certificate. Those who pursue further vocational Training do a Craft Course for two years obtaining Craft Certificates in the above mentioned courses that enable them as fully qualified Artisans to work in the whole of Africa and beyond.

The attached video shows the situation on the ground. It illustrates how the ongoing operations have already improved local conditions, but also reveals that the school still relies on donations. The video highlights the investments needed for the school’s future development. These include items such as chairs for the classrooms, books for the library, and additional resources for constructing buildings. With financial support, the school’s standards can be raised, allowing more children to gain access to education.
